Abstract

Due to the rapid growth of aging population and chronic disease patients, health industry of many countries have invested their large capitals and made efforts in order to develop innovative and the most advanced health technologies. The newly developed and advanced technologies provide benefits, but on the other hand, they also increase national healthcare costs and cause uncertainty in safety and effectiveness. It is essential to forecast the future based on quantitative analysis and identify emerging technologies in order to improve national R&D efficiency and gain a competitive advantage under rapidly changing environment of science and health technology using scientific evidence. The purpose of this study was to address the various foresight programs and analysis methods of potential impact for emerging health technology. It is important to conduct foresight activities integrated quantitative analysis used knowledge technology and quantitative analysis based on experts peer review to reduce the uncertainty of emerging health technology. Moreover, we should continuously perform horizon scanning activities to identify innovative health technology through knowledge mapping that is evidence based quantitative and qualitative analysis.
